BAIRD, TX (September 28, 2022) — Discovery Wind and Solar Energy, a renewable energy powerhouse, partnered to install the full-scale solar infrastructure for the 526-acre Hawtree Creek Solar Farm in North Carolina. The site’s power was recently purchased by Amazon, the largest buyer of renewable energy in the world.
Discovery was awarded the role of partial Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the Hawtree project. “We provided the manpower and equipment for all major component installation and an intense civil engineering plan,” said Matthew McBride, CEO and President at Discovery Wind and Solar Energy. The team developed a new process from underdrains and improved methods of stabilization for photovoltaic (PV) areas.
The company has a proven track record for high-quality workmanship under any condition, as well as the ability to fast track schedules and mobilize crews with precision and speed. Beginning in December 2020, 250 tradesmen came together to install the 85-megawatt project in eleven months.
Discovery credits its team and key partners, Kingsley Constructors, Inc., Kanawha Stone, and Baxter Johnson Contracting, for their contributions to the groundbreaking solar development. “We have an amazing workforce that produces award-winning projects.
